Misconfigured Access Solution

In this case, a misconfigured access solution was discovered in the scan and provided access to the network. Next, the software scanned LinkedIn for employee information and found exposed credentials on the Dark Web (where stolen data is listed for sale). It only took one reused password, and they gained access to Office 365 to view emails and administrator access to AWS, where sensitive data was stored.

Missing Endpoint Protection

A scan of over 5,000 devices on an internal network will likely find hundreds of vulnerabilities, and you can’t address them all at once. However, as this example proved, the low-risk rated vulnerabilities can actually be the highest risk. The automated testing uses Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to look for previous attacks that could chain together low-risk vulnerabilities and will use BAS to see if access can be gained in your network. In this case, 3 out of 5,000 machines were missing the endpoint security software that could have stopped the attempt, and access to data was gained within minutes.
